Obituary for Eugene Randall "Ran" Phipps
Eugene Randall “Ran” Phipps, age 60, of Chrisman, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Ran was born January 4, 1961, in Chicago, IL, the son of Edgar and Patricia Ann (Board) Phipps. He married Karen Sue (Salin) Phipps on May 26, 1995; she survives. He is also survived by his mother: Patricia Phipps of Chrisman, IL; three children: Shanna (Ted) Fisher of Catlin, IL, Mandy (Jon) Heath of Chrisman, IL, and Sarah (Ben) Setzer of Paris, IL; a brother: Dan (Mary) Phipps of Chrisman, IL; and five grandchildren: Drake, Preston, Paxton, Spencer Henry, and Stevie Lee. He was preceded in death by his father. Ran was a lifelong resident of Chrisman. He was an active member of the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene, where he also served on the church board and as a trustee. He owned and operated Phipps Church Builders since 2004. He built several churches across Illinois and Indiana. Ran enjoyed fishing in Canada at Austin’s Lodge. He will be deeply missed by his family, his church, and his community. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held following the visitation, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Hoult Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene.
