Obituary for John Harlan See Sr.
John Harlan See Sr., age 82, of Hume, IL passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Newman Rehab & Healthcare Center. He was born on December 14, 1931 to Eugene and Mary Jane (Glick) See in rural Chrisman, IL. He married Clara Watters on March 8, 1982 in Billings, MT. John was a lifelong resident of Edgar County, proudly served our country in the Air Force, working as a heavy equipment operator; a farmer and later in life he was an over the road truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 477, Bloomfield Masonic Lodge # 148, the Eagles Club and Terre Haute International Union of Operating Engineers Local 842. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, motorcycle riding, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, traveling, antiquing and flea markets, marble collecting and dearly loved visiting and joking with his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Clara of Hume, IL; five children: Lori Ann (John) Brengle of Metcalf, IL, Mary Lynn Liebe of Chrisman, IL, John Harlan See Jr. of Paris, IL, Mike (Teresa) Watters of Hillsboro, IL and Michelle (Skip) Arnold of Urbana, IL; two sisters; Mary Jean Roach of Collierville, TN and E. Suzanne (Don) Krutsinger of Rogers, AR; eight grandchildren: Joel Clausen, Taylor Liebe, Paige (David) Myers, Bailey Watters, Carrigan Watters, Jordan Mooney, Cameron Mooney and Corey Arnold and one great granddaughter, Aubrey Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hoult Cemetery with military rites performed by Chrisman American Legion Post #477. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Carle Hospice.
