Obituary for Davie McQueen
Davie Lee McQueen, age 76, of Oakland, IL went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with his wife Marlene on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at his home. Davie was born August 18, 1937 in Oakland, IL to Max and Kathleen (Knight) McQueen. He married Marlene (Seaman) McQueen on November 4, 1955 at the Hindsboro Methodist Church. Davie was the owner and operator of McQueen Lumber for over fifty years. He was very active in his community, serving on the East Oakland Township Board, the Endowment Trust Fund Board for 4 years, and as a volunteer fireman on the Oakland Fire Department for forty-five years. He was a member of the Oakland Christian Church. He was also a member of Eastern Star for 35 years, serving as Worthy Patron several times, and the Oakland Masonic Lodge 219. He loved boating with his wife, Marlene, and they enjoyed many years together on their “Love Boat.” He also enjoyed working in his yard, relaxing in his hot tub, and dearly loved his family. He is survived by three children: Kindra (David) Stolz, Doug (Lynn) McQueen and Vickie McQueen (John Leo); two granddaughters: Trachia (Levon) Wilson and Cara (James) Long; four grandsons: Clint (Haley) McQueen, Tim Stolz, Justin Coffey and Chaz Acord; three great grandchildren: Cooper and Adlee McQueen and Jayden Wilson; and a brother, Gene (Dorothy) McQueen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene McQueen; his parents; and a son, Mickey Lee McQueen. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Masonic services will be held following the visitation. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland Christian Church and the Oakland-Hindsboro Charitable Foundation.
