Obituary for Thomas Dale Innes
Thomas Dale “Tinker Tom” Innes, age 61 of Hindsboro, died on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born June 29, 1949 in Tuscola, Illinois to Robert Dale and Nora Mae (Butcher) Innes. He married Cheryl Sue Hallowell on June 14, 1968 at the Antioch Baptist Church in Oakland; she survives. Also surviving are his mother, Nora Innes of Hindsboro, IL; one son, Michael Dale (Denise) Innes of Sturgis, South Dakota; three daughters, Paula Sue Innes and fiancé Doug Williams of Tuscola, IL, Connie (Jeff) Hoel of Hindsboro, IL and Carol (Alan) Myers of Hindsboro, IL; one sister, Pam (Larry) Biggs of Hindsboro, IL; and five grandchildren: Malcolm Innes and Jack, Alex, Brittni and Zachary Hoel. He was preceded in death by his father. Tom was retired from IDOT where he worked as a highway maintainer. He served as treasurer of Douglas County Pheasants Forever, was a member of the Tuscola Moose Lodge and the Bowdre Township Cemetery Board, and served on the Hindsboro Community Fire Protection District as Assistant Chief Firefighter and First Responder. He enjoyed hunting and travel, and dearly loved his family; especially his grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland from noon to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 4:00 – 8:00. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at VanVoorhis Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Hindsboro Fire Protection District in care of the funeral home.
