Obituary for Thelma Good
Thelma Blanche Good, age 94 of Chrisman, IL passed away at her home on Thursday, August 6, 2015. She was born September 18, 1920 in Clark County, IL to Fred and Ruth (Martin) Thompson. She graduated from Redmon High School and married Elmer “Andy” Good on April 25, 1945.
Thelma was a 65 year member of the Chrisman American Legion Auxiliary where she served in all the offices. She also served as 18th District and 4th Division President of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was employed for several years at the Illinois Department of Family Services and was a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church. Thelma was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to watch her family play sports and any other activity they participated in. She was known as “Sports Grandma” and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Thelma is survived by five children: Dallas (Carolyn) Good of Joliet, IL, Wanda (Dan) Winans of Hume, IL, Dale (Ann) Good of Indianola, IL, Lynn (Maggie Biggs) Good of Chrisman, IL, and Lila (Gene) Bland of Bloomington, IL; eight grandchildren: Dale Good, Angie (Rob) Kotcher, Rebecca (Randy) Switzer, Mark (Holly) Winans, Joshua (Rachel) Bland, Luke (Mary) Bland, Lane (Brandy) Good, and Shay (Chad) Beals; eleven great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Colton Kotcher, Gabe and Lily Winans, Kierclyn and Tinsley Good, Coby Beals, Madeline, Arianna and Elijah Bland, and Andrew Bland; and brothers and sisters in law: Alva and Betty Good, Margaret Thompson, Bonnie and Jimmy Neal and Pauline Good. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship.
