Obituary for Ronnie Craft
Ronnie J. Craft, age 68 of Oakland, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.
Ronnie was born March 15, 1947 in Ebon, KY to Garland and Reva (Roberson) Craft. He married Vicki L. Davis on March 22, 1968; she survives.
He is also survived by three children: Michelle Bonebrake of Sullivan, IL, Lance (Michelle) Craft of The Woodlands, TX, Amie (Aaron) Deckard of Wheatland, IN and Tim Bonebrake of Sullivan, IL; a brother: Henry (Mary) Craft of Charleston, IL; a sister: Caroline (Doug) Pearcy of Kansas, IL; a brother-in-law, Will Binion of Arthur, IL; ten grandchildren: Cody and Kaleb Bonebrake of Sullivan, IL, Justin, Alyson, Ashley, Audrey and Abby Craft of The Woodlands, TX and Avery, Alie and Alea Deckard of Wheatland, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: David Manning; and three sisters: Ann Binion, Bonnie Hunter and Jerry Craft.
Ronnie was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Alaska. After his military service, he worked in several different fields including: Illinois Consolidated, Ozark Airlines, National Safety Association, Dorite Pest Control, Cellular One (where he worked for over 15 years), Sprint PCS, Mediacom and Mooney Motors. He also owned and operated the Oakland Pizza Shack for many years. He served as a deacon at the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church, and also was a member of the Oakland V.F.W. Post #3637 and the Oakland Masonic Lodge #219. He enjoyed woodworking, mushroom hunting, working outdoors, raising chickens for eggs, and dearly loved his family. One of his favorite ways to spend time was sitting around a campfire at home, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, with military honors provided by Oakland V.F.W. Post #3637. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
