Obituary for Robert Eugene Coon
Robert Eugene Coon, age 76, of Humboldt, Illinois and formerly of Oakland, Illinois, died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. Bob was born January 12, 1935 in rural Edgar county Illinois to Howard and Myrle (Young) Coon. He married Joyce Marie Higgins on July 28, 1961 in Paris, Illinois; she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Allen (Tammy) Coon of Charlotte, North Carolina and Howard (Danielle) Coon of Pana, Illinois; two brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Bob was a construction worker and farmed in the area for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1957-1959. He was a member of the Mattoon Moose Lodge and enjoyed reading, travel and being outdoors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 p.m. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
