Obituary for Richard Fansler
HINDSBORO, IL --- Richard “Rick” Fansler, age 64 of Hindsboro, passed away at 7:30 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2010 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, January 10 at Standard Funeral Home in Oakland, with J. D. Strader officiating. There will be no visitation. Rick was born on October 18, 1945 in Tuscola, the son of Roy J. and Doris Hitt Fansler. He was educated in the Oakland area, graduating from Oakland High School in 1964. On April 25, 1964 he married Mary Moran. Shortly after high school Rick was drafted into the United States Army, and served in Vietnam. Survivors include his wife Mary Fansler of Hindsboro; one son, Bill Fansler and wife Denice of Fairbanks, Alaska; one daughter, Stephanie Norris and husband Paul of Tompkinsville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, Cody, and Adam; and one brother, Jack Fansler of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Richard, and one sister. Rick was a welder at Bulk Tek Sales and Leasing in Arcola for the past seven years. Prior to that, he had been employed at Trailmobile for 18 years, at Livesay Brothers in Hindsboro, and at Mecco in Paris. He was a member of the Arthur Sportsman Club and the Oakland VFW. He enjoyed camping and fishing.
