Obituary for Martin Lee Sims
Martin Lee Sims, age 56, of Lowell, IN and formerly of Ridge Farm, IL, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born August 13, 1959 in Danville, IL to Edward A. and Lela J. Sims. He is survived by a brother: Rick (Rose) Sims of Marshall, IL; a sister: Lori (Tim) Hollingsworth of Chrisman, IL; a sister-in-law: Debra Sims; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary; and a sister, Mary.
Marty was a very gifted and talented man. He was a storyteller, an auctioneer, a truck driver, a dispatcher and an entertainer. He kept the attention of many for hours with his jokes, magic tricks and stories of his adventures and life experiences. He loved people and had a gift of making friends wherever he went. He loved to sing karaoke, he loved to dance, and he was usually the life of the party. Marty was also very giving. He helped with charity auctions and donated gifts and money to many organizations and clubs. He played Santa Clause at many events and was an active member of the Moose Lodge in Lowell, IN. He donated his time, talent and gifts to those in need. He left an impression on everyone he met, and will always be remembered for the joy he brought into a room and into the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman, IL. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pilot Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
