Lois Eileen Brooks, age 94, of Chrisman, IL, passed from this life into eternal rest on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Marshall Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Lois was born May 14, 1928, to John Ephraim and Effie Stella (Walker) McNulty in Clark County, IL.
Lois married the true love of her life, John Robert (Bob) Brooks in Henderson, KY, on October 28, 1947. They were married 53 years until his passing on March 8, 2001. Lois and Bob drove a semi in their earlier years before settling down to farm southeast of Scottland, IL. The also had a hog farm during their farming years, and set up farmer’s markets in Danville, Champaign, and Terre Haute. Lois and Bob retired to Florida in 1987, where they had a booth in several flea markets on different days.
Lois enjoyed mushroom hunting, bowling, and rollerskating, and loved to visit casinos and play Bingo. She was a Girl Scout in her childhood. She delivered Peace Meals, was a blood donor, and was a lifetime member of the Paris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Lois is survived by special niece and nephews: Sandra (Phil) Schmit, David McNulty, Steven McNulty, Rodney McNulty, and Tim McNulty, all of Chrisman, IL; a step-daughter: Kay (Khalil) Fuller Ayoub; a sister: Barbara Bagwell of Chesapeake, VA; four step-grandchildren: Debbie, Dennis, Kelly, and John; and several nieces, nephews, and step-great-grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; three brothers: Elza McNulty, Henry McNulty, and George McNulty; three sisters: Ettsyell Rhoads, Helen Martin, and Bernice Vernon; and a step-granddaughter: Kamy Elliot.
A graveside funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Chapel Cemetery in Scottland, IL. For those who wish, memorials in Lois’ honor may be made to the Marshall Rehab Activity Fund or Chrisman Peace Meals.
