Obituary for Lloyd Hendry
BROCTON, IL --- Lloyd M. “Bud” Hendry, age 82 of Brocton, passed away at 4:15 PM, Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 29 at Standard Funeral Home in Oakland, with Reverend Virgil Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Embarrass Cemetery, north of Redmon. Friends may call after noon on Sunday at Standard Funeral Home, where the family will be present for visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday afternoon. Lloyd Morris “Bud” Hendry was born on July 5, 1927 in Brocton, the son of Isaac and Maude Miller Hendry. He was raised and educated in the Brocton area. From 1944 to 1946 Bud served in the United States Army. On June 9, 1946 he married Wanda E. Davis in El Paso, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hendry of Brocton; two sons, Chuck Hendry and wife Connie of Oakland, and Ron Hendry and wife Sheryle of Brocton; four grandchildren, Christi, Leslie, Craig, and Wade; two step-grandchildren, Krystal and Nick; five great-grandchildren, Ava, Jackson, Caroline, Sophi, and Elliott; two step great-grandchildren, Henry and Lucy; one sister, Maxine Childress and husband Verice of Bartonville; one sister-in-law, Virginia Meyer of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Bud had been a farmer most of his life, running his own farm near Brocton. He was a member of the Brocton Christian Church, and was a 50 year member of the Hume Masonic Lodge. He was also a Shriner. Bud had served for 32 years on the Embarrass Township Board. He was a CB and HAM Radio enthusiast, enjoyed woodworking, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. A memorial fund is being established for the Brocton Christian Church.
