Obituary for Linda Lou Crawford
Linda Lou Nugent-Crawford, age 82 of Mattoon, IL passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home. Linda was born June 28, 1938 to Arthur Ray and Cleta (Jackson) Nugent in Ashmore, IL. Linda was raised in a two-bedroom house with five siblings and had many fond memories of growing up in Ashmore, playing marbles or basketball, sewing, and riding her bicycle. She attended Ashmore Grade School, graduated from Charleston High School, and went on to Lake Land College where she achieved an associate degree in Secretarial Science. She got her first job at a little restaurant in Ashmore working as a waitress and cook. She went on to wait tables at the Moose in Charleston, and also worked in the factory and drugstore. Linda enjoyed playing bingo, reading the newspaper, sitting outside enjoying the fresh air, and spending time with her family. Linda is survived by her daughter: Rhonda Brigitte Blount of Charleston, IL; a sister: Jeannette Hood of Ashmore, IL; two grandchildren: Annie and Lloyd; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and one special niece, Connie Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers. Services for Linda will be scheduled at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.krabelfuneralhome.com.
