Obituary for June Omega Johnson
June Omega (Blair) Johnson, age 91 of Oakland, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Hilltop Convalescent Center in Charleston, Illinois. June was born February 13, 1920 to Albert C. and Mary E. (Turner) Blair. She married Reece Johnson on July 16, 1935, and they made their home in Oakland, where she owned and operated June’s Fashion Shop. Later they moved to Colorado, where they owned and operated Swissvale Manor and developed Swissvale Subdivision. Upon thier return to Oakland, they owned and operated the Enterprise Variety Store, the Ceramic Workshop and Johnson’s Bed & Breakfast. June was an active member of the Oakland Christian Church, Oakland Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the Museum of Christian Heritage and the Oakland Historical Foundation. She was a member of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors and LMI Club. June was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and devout Christian. She was always busy with a project, whether it was at home, at the church, with civic organizations or in her businesses, but she always had time to care for others and at all times gave thanks to God for all her blessings. She is survived by three daughters, Janet Ashmore of Estero, FL, Nancy (Ken) Lange of Hindsboro, IL and Betty Coffrin of Charleston, IL; eight grandchildren, Rick (Robin) Ashmore of Cashiers, NC, Ronna (Randy) Beck of Eau Claire, WI, Randy (Terra) Ashmore of Estero FL, Rod Ashmore of Estero, FL, Kendra (Justin) Lange of Edgewood, IL, Kip (LouAnn) Lange of Tuscola, IL, Kirk Lange of Hindsboro, IL, and Corey (Elisha) Coffrin of Bloomington, IL; twenty-five great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Linda Johnson; grandchildren Reesa Ashmore and Kevin (Rachel) Lange; two sons-in-law, Jim Ashmore and Ferris Coffrin; six brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be held at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Krabel Funeral Home on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the The Spare Room or Oakland Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
