Obituary for John Edwin Williams
John E. Williams, age 73, passed away on March 31, 2013. He was a well known farmer in the Chrisman area for 32 years. He was born July 21, 1939 in Lebanon, Indiana, the son of Zenes and Luella Williams. John graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy from Purdue University in 1961 and his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois in 1970. Following graduation from Purdue, John worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Indiana. He was employed for many years as an Accredited Farm Manager with Camp Farm Management Services in Champaign. He moved to Chrisman in 1977 and began his farming career and retired from farming in 2005. He married Diane Hanson on November 19, 1976. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his daughter Christina (Shane) Moran of Chrisman; two grandchildren, Alexis Moran and Preston Moran; and his brother Joe (Carolyn) Williams of Lebanon, Indiana. John was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Chrisman Lions Club, the Chrisman Area Community Club and past member of the Illinois and American Societies of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Friends may meet the family on Thursday, April 4 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 308 E. Madison, Chrisman. The funeral service will be held at the church at noon immediately following the visitation. Interment will be in Hoult Cemetery, Chrisman. If desired, memorials may be made to the Edgar County Humane Society in Paris.
