Obituary for Geneta Belle Honn
OAKLAND, IL --- Geneta B. Honn, age 85 of Oakland, passed away at 5:25 AM, Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Paris Community Hospital in Paris. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 23 at Standard Funeral Home in Oakland with Reverend Phil Tribby officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday morning at Standard Funeral Home. Geneta Belle was born on April 17, 1924 in Paris, Illinois, the daughter of James M. and Eva P. Austin Ogden. She attended Brocton High School. On April 19, 1941 she married Waldo Emmerson Honn in St. Charles, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2000. Survivors include one son, Gene Allen Honn of Mt. Vernon; four daughters, Ann Marlow and husband Harprit Sandhu of Champaign, Mary Jane LeGrand of Ashmore, Melinda Honn and husband Greg Conrad of Snowflake, Arizona, and Marsha Honn Wiedle and husband Gary of Snowflake, Arizona; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gene Ogden of Isabel. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Geneta and her husband farmed in the Edgar County area. She had served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and as a 4-H Leader. Geneta was a member of the Edgar County Farm Bureau, the Isabel Methodist Church and the Brocton Methodist Church. She enjoyed the Audubon Society, collecting antiques, and rock hunting. A memorial fund is being established for the Oakland Memorial Library.
