Obituary for Frederick Carl Kubicek
Frederick Carl Kubicek, age 71, of Kansas, IL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 24, 2017. Fred was born March 29, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Earl Charles and Ruth Laura (Pollock) Kubicek. He married Alice Marie Rutherford on August 3, 1968 in Chicago, IL; she survives. He is also survived by two sons: Jeremy (Ellen) Kubicek of St. Louis, MO and Evan (Terah) Kubicek of Kansas, IL; a sister-in-law: Charlotte Kubicek of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren: Taliesin, Asher, Elijah, Samson, Ephraim, and Levi Kubicek; and his nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Warren Kubicek. Fred earned several degrees including a Bachelors of Science in Political Science from the University of Illinois, a Jurist Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law, and a Master of Science in Special Education from Eastern Illinois University. He also spent the majority of his professional career in education, serving as a teacher at Eastern Illinois Area Special Education Treatment and Learning Center, principal at Pavilion Foundation School in Champaign, IL, and most recently as a school bus driver for Illinois Central in Charleston, IL. Fred practiced law from 1972-1983, both in private practice and as Assistant State’s Attorney for Coles County. Fred also served as pastor and administrator of Unlimited Glory Ministries since 1983. In addition to his active professional life, Fred was also very involved in a variety of civic organizations, such as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 289 in Kansas, IL and Explorer Scout Advisor for Post 88 in Kansas, IL. Fred was an avid Biblical historian and was the creator and editor of the One Nation Under God Poster. He was a mentor and father figure to countless young people. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kansas United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. following the visitation. Burial will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts be made to the Kubicek family in care of Krabel Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
