Obituary for F. Joyce Miller
Frances Joyce (Jones) Miller, age 88 of Charleston, IL and formerly of Oakland, IL went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2018 at Brookstone Estates in Charleston.
Joyce was born August 27, 1929 in Gays, IL to Cecil and Edna (Estes) Jones. She married Edwin Hays, who preceded her in death in 1958. She later married James Fred Miller, who also preceded her in death in 1988.
She is survived by five children: Ann (Fred) Lamkey of Bloomington, IL Nancy (Bob) Miller-Korth of Gresham, WI, Susan (Jim) Jones of Larkspur, CO, Melissa Miller (Eric Czarnecki) of Charleston, IL, and Laura (Terry) Cresap of Monument, CO; a sister: Marilyn Brady of Charleston, IL; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Ed Jones and a sister: Shirley Curry.
Joyce was a homemaker all her life. She was a dedicated volunteer at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for many years, and served as an election judge and Republican Party Precinct Chairperson. She was also a woman of strong faith and attended church for as long as her health allowed, teaching many Sunday School classes and Bible studies through the years. She enjoyed gardening and birdwatching, crochet, and quilting, and loved spending time with her family. She especially adored her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Arcola Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to a charitable organization to be designated by the family at a future date.
