Obituary for Elsie C. (Woodyard) Allen
Elsie C. Allen (Woodyard)
Born in Ridge Farm on August 19, 1930 and passed peacefully in the same house on the evening of April 23, 2020. Elsie is proceeded in death by her Parents; Fred and Della Woodyard; Sister Doris (1948); Son David L. Allen (2017 at the age of 56). Survived by Son Mark J. Allen (58). Grandchildren Mark Allen Jr. (30); Christian Allen (22); and Shelby Allen (20) along with many Nieces and Nephews.
Elsie went to school in Ridge Farm and graduated in 1948. She Graduated from The University of Illinois in 1952 with a Teaching Degree. Elsie then volunteered to teach for the US Air Force officers children in France during the Korean War. Elsie settled in Dallas, Texas in 1959, and raised her boys there. Elsie volunteered and ran many community organizations.
Elsie received her Master’s Degree in 1980 and taught at UTD and then at TSTC until she retired in 1998 and moved back to Illinois to care for her Mother.
During her lifetime; Elsie traveled all over the world with her boys. She will always be remembered as the best Mom, Friend, Teacher, Gardener, Chef, and Writer that anyone could have ever hoped to know. Also, her sense of humor lives on everywhere she touched.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery.
