Obituary for Chris Eugene Goodman
Chris Eugene Goodman, age 48 of Oakland, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 17 at Standard Funeral Home in Oakland. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Chris was born May 6, 1961 in Charleston, Illinois, the son of Robert Eugene Goodman and Patricia Ruth (Osburn) Goodman. He married Linda Sue Byers on March 8, 1986 in Oakland, Illinois. Survivors include his wife, Linda Goodman of Oakland, a son, Jesse (Jennifer) Goodman of Oakland, a daughter, Haley Smith of Oakland, his mother, Patricia Goodman of Oakland, a sister, Pamela (Kerry) Luttrell of Mattoon, and three grandchildren, Alexis Kiser, Lauren Kiser and Hendrix Goodman. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Goodman. Chris grew up in Oakland and returned to his hometown after living ten years in Columbia, South Carolina. He worked as a Maintenance Specialist at Master Foods, Inc., where he served on the Safety Committee and Plant Emergency Organization. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Oakland. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, music and his pets. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Cancer Research Institute or to the Coles County Animal Shelter.
