Cecil Edwin “Ed” Jones, 84, of Oakland, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Oaks Manor.
Ed was born October 17, 1932, in Mattoon, IL, the son of Cecil Edward and Edna Mary (Estes) Jones. He married Laudelle Jeanette Jones in Chicago, IL on May 28, 1958. Ed was employed with the railroad as a Signalman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, railroading, and collecting trains.
He is survived by his children: a daughter, Catherine Jeanette (LeRoy) Smyser of Oakland, IL, and stepsons Rick Allen (Charlotte) Stults of Haleyville, AL and Hollis Michael (Shirley) Pisani of Oakland, IL; two sisters: Joyce Miller and Marilyn Brady, both of Charleston, IL; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at noon. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, gifts may be made in his memory to the Oaks Manor in Oakland, IL.
