Dick Dean Apple, age 84, of Arcola, IL, died Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, surrounded by his loving daughters.
Dick was born October 23, 1941, to Guy Thomas and Cora Mae (Dean) Apple. He married Shirley Louise (Rankins) Apple; she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters: Lori Ann McGuffey (Robert) of Arcola, IL, and Leslie Beth Reinhart (Russell) of Crystal Lake, IL; and one grandchild: Cpl. Jack W. Reinhart, USMC, currently stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas B. Apple and Charles W. Apple.
Dick was a lifelong resident of Oakland and worked at several area grain elevators. He was active in softball and basketball leagues, enjoyed traveling out west to visit family, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also had a love of carpentry that he learned from his father.
Private family services will be held. For those who wish, memorials in Dick’s honor may be made to the Oakland Senior Center.
