Obituary for Jim Taylor
James Ellis “Jim” Taylor, age 83 of Oakland, IL, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019. Jim was born October 9, 1935 in Rardin, IL, to Roschen “Buck and Oather (Pheiffer) Taylor. He married Mary Elizabeth Hunt on August 28, 1955, and they enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. Jim was a lifelong farmer, and his love of farming and working the land was second only to his deep love and devotion to his family. He took many jobs throughout the years during the winter months, working at Paul Galbreth, Paul Hawkins, Pete Jordan, Oakland Farm Supply, and the shoe factory in Paris, to name a few. He liked antique tractors, and he especially enjoyed watching and participating in antique tractor pulls. He also enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Richard “Dick” Taylor. He is survived by his beloved wife, their three children: David (Carla) Taylor of Oakland, IL; Terrie Bradley of Paris, IL; and John (Lisa) Taylor of Oakland, IL; one brother: Calvin (Nancy) Taylor of Oakland, IL; one sister: Barbara (Gene) Abrams of Springfield, MO; eight grandchildren: Brittany Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Jennifer Pichette, Nickie Madlem-Easterday, Jodie Shaffer, Jessaca Plank, Jase Taylor, and Kyle Taylor; seventeen great-grandchildren: Paige Warner, Chloe Pichette, Payten Madlem-Easterday, Keegan Madlem-Easterday, Mason Childers, Scarlett Shaffer, Raegin McElwee, Rylie McElwee, Evan McElwee, Lex Davison, Blaze Taylor-Lutz, Brylie Taylor-Lutz, Blaire Taylor-Lutz, Blaine Taylor-Lutz, Jaxsyn Taylor, Owen Taylor, and Everly Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Krabel Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
