Obituary for Stephen Ross Moore
Stephen Ross Moore, age 71, of Westville, formerly of Chrisman, passed away at 8 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, from a one-vehicle accident in Georgetown, IL on Route 1.
He was born February 22, 1946, in Charleston, IL, the son of the late Ross and Betty (Robinson) Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-brother: Dale Kennedy; two brothers-in-law: Richard Sims and Richards Rhoads; and a sister-in-law: Linda Moore.
He is survived by two brothers: Bill Moore and Dan (Marilyn) Moore of Chrisman; and three sisters: Brenda Sims of Bourbonnais, IL, Donna Rhoads, and Anita (Eric) Marvin, both of Chrisman, IL. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Moore attended Chrisman schools and was a former Edgar County Deputy Sheriff and Chrisman Chief of Police. He worked in construction, drove a semi, worked for Walker Farms, and Chicago Bridge and Iron. He was a longtime member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #148 A.F. & A.M. He was previously a member of the Chrisman Fire Department.
Per Mr. Moore’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. His cremains will be laid to rest at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Kansas, IL.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Chrisman Fire Department or the Chrisman American Legion for the Veteran’s Memorial.
