Obituary for Peggy Joyce Link

Peggy Joyce (Bonwell) Link, age 81, of Paris, IL, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at her home.

Peggy was born December 15, 1941, on the farm in Scottland, IL, to Robert Bertram and Katherine Hess (Buchanan) Bonwell. She owned and operated restaurants in Oakland, Chrisman, and Farmington, IL, where she was known for her homemade pies. In her younger years, she had a passion for twirling baton and even taught classes to others in Chrisman. She enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycle riding and was known to have a fast car or two. In her later years, she also enjoyed line dancing with friends.

Peggy is survived by three children: LaRinda Penne of Kansas City, MO, Phillip (Naomi) Vice of Dennison, IL, and Jeff (Beky) Vice of Rolling Hills Estates, CA; a brother: Edward A. (Sue) Bonwell of Chrisman, IL; three sisters: Nancy L. Leeman of Scottland, IL, Betty L. Paps of LaGrange, IL, and Dorothy C. Yaw of Chrisman, IL; and four grandchildren: Phillip (Kelly) Vice II of Paris, IL, Brett Penne of Overland Park, KS, Ryan Penne of Kansas City, MO, and Gage Vice of Rolling Hills Estates, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son: Max Ray Vice.

A graveside funeral will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Chapel Cemetery in rural Scottland, IL. For those who wish, memorials in Peggy’s honor may be made to Friends Chapel Church.
