Obituary for Joy Coffman
Joy Coley Coffman, age 86, of Oakland, IL, died Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. Joy was born February 16, 1935, to Purd and Bessie (Coley) Duckworth in Newman, IL. She married John Richard Coffman on November 10, 1951; he survives. She is also survived by two children: Teresa (William) Deckard and Rick (Cathy) Coffman; two grandchildren: Travis (Leanne) Thomas and Judd (Stormie) Coffman; four great-grandchildren: Zachary, Madison, Ethan, and Reese; and a special friend, Carol Coffman. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers: Harold, George, Rufus, Hubert, and Andy Duckworth. Joy previously worked at Zenith and Cap & Gown, and she also enjoyed farming and babysitting for her grandson, Judd, when he was young. She loved gardening and flowers, sewing, painting, and woodworking with John. Back in the day, she and John also enjoyed square dancing, tractor pulling, and cart racing. Most of all, Joy loved spending time with her family. A celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced.
