Obituary for Bobbie Miller
Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Miller, age 87, of Oakland, IL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Horizon Health Center in Paris, IL, surrounded by her family. Bobbie was born September 13, 1933 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Eugene and Margaret (Hartley) Taber. She attended Oakland schools and graduated in 1951. She married Max Edmund Miller on October 14, 1951 at Oakland Christian Church, and they were happily married for 69 years. Throughout her life, Bobbie was a devoted mother, music teacher, and bookkeeper. She was a talented musician who used her gifts to serve the Lord and others. She was pianist and organist at Oakland Christian Church for over 60 years, and taught countless children to play the piano – including her grandchildren. Bobbie was also an avid doll collector, and made more than 450 Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls. Her legacy of faithfulness to Lord and to her family will continue to be an example to all who knew her. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, Max; their three children: Jim (Kaye) Miller of Oakland, IL; Chris (Mary) Miller of Oakland, IL; and Lisa (Bruce) Skoog of Hollister, MO; one sister: Kay Johnson of Fort Meyers, FL; one brother: Jim (Linda) Taber of Oakland, IL; and one foster brother: Dale (Jody) Fuqua of Norman, OK; eleven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one step-great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Oakland Christian Church. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Oakland Christian Church.
