Obituary for Bob Campbell
Robert Wayne “Bob” Campbell, age 77, of Oakland, IL went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Bob was born April 28, 1943 in Paris, IL to Jesse Clarence and Lois Eilene (Barnes) Campbell. He married Marva Sue Duzan on June 6, 1965 at Bushton Christian Church. They enjoyed over 55 wonderful years of marriage together.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and a longtime faithful member of Oakland Christian Church. He worked as a journeyman bindery operator at R.R. Donnelley for 36 years. He loved football, having played in high school, and was an avid Chicago Bears Fan. He enjoyed playing games, especially cards, working with computers, watching movies, and cruising in the convertible with Sue. Bob was a devoted father and grandfather, and was present at every game, musical performance, and event that his kids and grandkids were in. He was immensely proud of his family and loved them dearly.
Bob will be remembered for his warm smile, his kindness, his cheerful and encouraging spirit, and his example of faith in Jesus. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and his church.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; their three children: Brent Wayne (Krista) Campbell of Cumming, GA; Kevin Duane (Jennifer) Campbell of Heyworth, IL; and Tiffany Sue Campbell-Acton of Leroy, IL; his brother: Ted (Claudia) Campbell of Chatham, IL; and seven grandchildren: Kaleb Campbell, Jonah (Kristin) Campbell, Kaitlyn Campbell, Levi Campbell, Benjamin Campbell, Ethan Campbell, and Kaylee Acton.
An open visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Due to Covid-19, the family will not be present, but friends are welcome to come in and pay their respects. The family will hold a private funeral, but plan to hold a public celebration of Bob’s life at a later date.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to Oakland Christian Church.
