Donald H. Krabel, age 80, of Charleston, IL passed peacefully at home on January 25, 2013. Don was born March 8, 1932, in Brocton, IL to August Henry and Mabel (Craig) Krabel. He married Carolyn Henry, Ann Yangoren and Sondra Mae Larkins, they all preceded him in death. He is survived by five children: Janeen (Tim) Diaz of Terre Haute, IN; Patricia (Ray) Hoffman of Port St. Lucie, FL; Colleen (Ross) Roberts of Mobile, AL; Dawn (Todd) Parker of Kansas, IL and Hank (Jeri) Krabel of Charleston, IL; one brother, Kenny (Becky) Krabel of Thousand Oaks, CA; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, one brother, two sisters and one son, Marty Robling. Don was a member of the Charleston VFW Post # 1592 and the Brocton American Legion Post # 977, where he was a past commander. He enjoyed dove hunting, fishing and loved to dance. Don was also an avid collector of various items, including over 100 walking canes. He will be greatly remembered by family and friends as the fun loving man who was always well dressed with a story to tell and lived the “good life.” Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will be held two hours prior, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Payne Cemetery.
