William “Bill” Hale, age 67, of Oakland, IL, went home to be with the Lord May 14, 2017 at 10:41 a.m. surrounded by his family. Bill was born December 5, 1949 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of William C. and Esther Hale.
Bill married Leola “Lee” Hale on August 3, 1969 in Florence, AZ; she preceded him in death on May 7, 2017. He was a Coles County Sheriff Deputy for over 20 years. Bill attended the Oak Grove Church in Oakland, IL. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Tawaskote Longrifles. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting and black powder guns.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one infant brother and two brothers, Bernard Allen (Peggy) Lientz and Harold Eugene (Jeanetta) Lientz. He is survived by his children, Laura (Greg) Hanks, Jason (Rosemary) Hale, Helena (Jeff) VanTassel; one sister, Janice (Donald) Custis of Coolidge, AZ; and 10 grandchildren, Vince Hale, Kyle Hanks, Josh Hanks, Tabitha Hanks, Austin Hale, Cody Hale, Dustin Hale, Keith VanTassel, Tristan VanTassel, and Alisha VanTassel.
Service celebrating his life will be held at the Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL, on May 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held Friday, May 19 from 5-7p.m. For those who wish, monetary memorials may be made to the family.
