Obituary for William D. Peters
William D. “Bill” Peters, 68, passed away on August 7, 2011 at his home in Oakland, IL. Bill was born on January 9, 1943 in Paris, IL to Jim and Helen (Evard) Peters. He served in the Army from 1961-1964 and was a member of the Mattoon American Legion Post # 88. He worked as an order and schedule analyst at Case for 15 years. He greatly enjoyed rebuilding cars. He married Marty (Hunt) Peters on August 15, 1961 in Paris, IL, she survives. He is also survived by a son Randy (Tami) Peters, a daughter Melody (Doug) Young and an adopted daughter Tina Halloran; special granddaughter Kristyn Smith and four granddaughters; Caitlin and Kelly Young, Neysa Jones and Nikki Flowers; three very special grandsons; J.J., Collyn and Klayton Smith, sons of Kristyn Smith; two sisters Nancy Garver and Patricia Peters; several nieces and nephews, and a dear friend Jim Ackerman. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill was known as a very caring and generous man willing to help anyone in need. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, with visitation two hours prior to the service.
