Virginia Ann Swan died peacefully at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia on May 30, 2015 at the age of 85.
Virginia was born on October 2, 1929 in Oakland, Coles County, Illinois to Parker Marrs and Irene Weiland Marrs of Borton, Illinois. She attended Isabel Elementary, Brocton High School and at the age of 52 years, she graduated from Lakeland Community College in Mattoon with an associate degree in nursing home management. Virginia was a generous individual who loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and who was passionate about being a mother, a farmer’s wife, an artist, an antiquer, and a nursing home activity director. She was also a lifetime member of the Paris V.F.W. Post 3601 Auxiliary.
Virginia is survived by her children: Sherry Boughn of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Walter (Vickie) Liffick of Norfolk, Virginia, and Bonnie Gregor of Paris, Illinois; six grandchildren: Corrina, Angela, Lauren, Justin, Clayton, Matthew; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mildred (Jesse) Babbs of Charleston, Illinois and Darlene Dickson of Brocton, Illinois; and one brother: Harold (Karen) Marrs of Oakland, Illinois.
She was is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Max Swan and Walter A. Liffick, Jr; and one bother: Frederick Marrs.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Embarrass Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland Food Pantry. Online condolences and service information are available at www.krabelfuneralhome.com.
