Obituary for Virginia Amelia Hudson
“Abby” Virginia Amelia (Chandler) Hudson, age 71 of Hindsboro, IL, died Monday, August 15, 2011 at Charleston Rehab and Health Care Center. Abby was born October 26, 1939 in Sandwich, IL to Myron and Edith (Erickson) Chandler. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois. She married Thomas Paul Hudson on June 25, 1960. She was a homemaker and farm wife, and she owned and operated the local newspaper, Country Crossroads. She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, Oakland-Hindsboro Charitable Foundation, Oakland Chamber of Commerce and Home Extension. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by her many friends and relatives who loved her dearly. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Pam) Hudson of Hindsboro, IL and Kent (Lisa) Hudson of Verona, New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Debbie Chandler of DeKalb, IL; five grandchildren: Brian (Liz) Becker, Alex Hudson, Michael Hudson, Thomas Hudson and Timothy Hudson,two great-grandchildren: Nolyn McClane and Brentley McClane, and two sisters-in-law, Pat (Bill) Sargent of Champaign, IL and Mary Lynn (Duan) Bartholomew of Neoga, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Robert Chandler. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at VanVoorhis Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland-Hindsboro Charitable Foundation or the Abby Hudson Memorial Fund to benefit Tri-County Titan sports.
