Obituary for Viola E. Samford
Viola Esther (Willison) Samford, age 84 of Chrisman, passed away peacefully at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Viola was born January 13, 1926 in Danville, Illinois to H.J. and Ruth (Nesbitt) Willison. She married Clyde Samford on July 20, 1946 at the Olivet Nazarene Church. She helped with her husband’s plumbing business for many years. She loved her family and enjoyed shopping for her kids and grandkids. Viola also enjoyed horse racing and following her son’s thoroughbred horses, and spending time on the internet. She is survived by one daughter, Debra (Dana) Kennerly of Riverton, IL; one sister, Mary L. Eckdahl of Oregon; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Alan Samford; two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman, with the funeral service to follow at noon. Interment will be in Hoult Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Chrisman Public Library in care of the funeral home.
