Obituary for Timothy Howard Skinner

Timothy Howard Skinner, age 55, of Oakland, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at his home.

Tim was born December 3, 1960 in Tuscola, IL. He was known as the “Almost Jarman” Hospital baby due to being born in an Edsel at a gas station across from Mel’s drive-in in Tuscola. He was the son of Emma Dianne (Arwine) and Howard Powell Skinner.

Tim is survived by three children: Brandon Skinner of Charleston, IL, Joshua Skinner of Danville, IL and Emma Skinner of Humboldt, IL; his mother: Emma Dianne Duzan and step-father, Albert Schneider of Kansas, IL; two sisters: Susan Grafton of Hume, IL, Shawn (Robert) Bruce of Brocton, IL; a brother: Todd (Terri) Skinner of Hindsboro, IL; special friend: Tammy Maples of Oakland, IL and her daughters, Dallas and Bailey; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Don H. and Anna Skinner, and Rueben and Evelyn Arwine; his father: Howard Powell Skinner; a brother: Derek Duzan; a grandson: Clayton Skinner; a brother-in-law, Alvin “Sonny” Grafton; nephew: Jacob Bruce; and several aunts, uncles and extended family.

Tim was a 1979 graduate of Oakland High School. He started work at Trailmobile, and also worked at Vesuvius, had a trash route, worked for his brother, Todd, at SKS Drilling, drove a yard truck for Simonton Windows and drove a truck over the road for several companies. In between, he worked at home improvement on three of his own homes and for many other people.

Tim loved attending family events and especially loved interacting with the little ones, and they always enjoyed him, too. He loved riding his motorcycle and anything Harley-Davidson, attending concerts and music of all genres, and planting and caring for his garden-especially his tomatoes. He was known for his gentle soul and his big heart. He would help anyone he could and had a most infectious laugh. You couldn’t name all the reality TV shows he loved to watch.

Following cremation, a memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
