Obituary for Thomas Eugene Sollers
Thomas Eugene Sollers, age 64 of Newman, IL, died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL.
Tom was born November 4, 1951 in Tuscola, IL to Eugene Jackson and Olga Ella (Luth) Sollers. He married Karen Elaine Myers on June 5, 1971; she survives.
He is also survived by three children: William (Dawn) Sollers of Marshall, IL, Amber (Don) Adkins of Newman, IL, and Christopher (Christy) Sollers of Montegut, LA; a sister: Jerri Lyn (Rick) Quinn of Tuscola, IL; eight grandchildren: Keira Riggleman, Whitney Sollers, Tristan Walsh, Destiny Neil, Derrick Sollers, Halie Neil, Gage Sollers, and Harley Sollers; and two great-grandchildren: Corbin Hildreth and Cooper Hildreth. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom was a retired welder. He was member of the Newman Masonic Lodge #369, Eastern Illinois ABATE, and the Brocton Christian Church. In his youth, he was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Tom enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Masonic rites will be held following the visitation, at 7:00 p.m. No public funeral services will be scheduled, as Tom’s wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
