Obituary for Sonna L. Craig
Sonna Lou (Pierce) Craig, age 83, of Chrisman, IL, died Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Sonna was born September 2, 1938, in Danville, Illinois, the adopted daughter of Martin and Ruth (Snively) Pierce. She married John Craig in 1959, and they were married for thirty-nine years and had three children: Terri Beals (Steve Rogers) of Chrisman, IL, Lorri Gilkerson (Dave Mohler) of Chrisman, IL, and Troy (Rachel) Craig of Chrisman, IL.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Christen (Mike) Reed of Chrisman, IL, Casey Spesard (Drew Lorenzen) of Chrisman, IL, Luke (Kim) Beals of Barrington, IL, Jake (Sierra) Beals of Paris, IL, Quinton (Blake) Craig of Chrisman, IL, and Sheyenne Craig; eight great-grandchildren: Savanna and Saige Reed, Graham Beals, Hayden and Harper Spesard, Brenden and Evan Beals, and Brynnleigh Craig; and two nephews: Doug and Dan Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Richard “Dick” Pierce.
Sonna was a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church and belonged to the Wednesday Morning Coffee League in Ridge Farm. She enjoyed bowling, yard work, horse shows and tractor pulls. She was a homemaker and also previously worked at Pat’s Fashion in Danville.
Funeral services will be held at the Chrisman United Methodist Church on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at noon. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in Sonna’s honor be made to the Edgar County Humane Society or the Chrisman United Methodist Church.
