Sheila Jo Brothers, age 80, of Brocton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Paris Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Paris, Illinois.
Born on August 21, 1944, in Paris, Sheila was the beloved daughter of Ormal and Honora (Currey) Wiese, John V Stewart. She married Paul Brothers, in Odessa, Texas, and they shared many wonderful years together before his passing.
Sheila is lovingly remembered by her son, Jeffrey Pangburn; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Kaye Darling and Rita Lindsay and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A lifelong resident of Brocton, Sheila was deeply rooted in her faith and community. She was a devoted member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois, where she found comfort and joy in her spiritual life. Sheila’s passions and curiosities led her far and wide—she was a member of the Texas Archaeological Society, the El Paso Archaeological Society, and the Midland Gem and Mineral Club. She also volunteered her time with the Museum of the Southwest, Relay for Life, and the Summer Mummers Theatre.
Sheila had a zest for life and an eclectic array of interests. She loved geology, archaeology, lapidary arts and silversmithing, dancing, church activities, Brocton Springfest, and classic sci-fi—especially Star Trek and Doctor Who. Her warmth, humor, and curiosity left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
