Obituary for Roy F Snoddy Jr.
Roy F. Snoddy Jr., age 85, of Ashmore, Illinois passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Twin Lakes Rehab & Health Care in Paris, Illinois. Roy was born November 23, 1926 in Ashmore, Illinois to Roy F. Snoddy Sr. and Ethlyn Louise (Teal) Snoddy. On April 8, 1946 he took a train to Topeka, Kansas to marry Martha Louise Essinger; she survives. He is also survived by five daughters: Sandy Bradford of Ashmore, IL, Kathy (Gary) Cordier of Rantoul, IL, Karen Hardwick of Ashmore, IL, Debbie (Greg) Buell of Ashmore, IL, and Kim (Denny) Schwartz of Ashmore, IL; a grandson they raised David (Sheila) Maxey of Ashmore, IL; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, one son-in-law and one great granddaughter. Roy was a hard working farmer and heavy machinery operator that loved his family dearly. He also enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, his cat “Alley” and his dog “Harley,” and spending the winters in Florida. He was a member of Ashmore Masonic Lodge #390 and International Union of Operating Engineers Local #841. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Visitation will be held two hours prior beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter.
