Rosemary Thomason, 73, of Oakland, IL, died at 10:55 AM Saturday (Sept, 19, 2009) at Charleston Rehablilitation Center in Charleston. The graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oakland with the Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Oakland. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Today at the Standard Funeral Home in Oakland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curt Thomason, Richard Throneburg, Cameron Warner, Bryan Thomas, Mark Baxter, Chad Hieronimus, Mark Curtis and Curtis Uphoff. She was born September 18, 1936 in Charleston, the daughter of Harold George and Edna Louella (Gray) Curtis. She married Rex Wayne Thomason on November 29, 1953 at the Oak Grove Church. He died Jan. 17, 2007. Survivors include a son, Curt Thomason of Oakland; a daughter, Lana Thomason of Paris; 3 granddaughters, Angela, Brandi and Kelsey; a grandson, Andy; 1 great granddaughter, Madison; one brother, Mike (Valerie) Curtis of Arcola; a sister-in-law, Linda Curtis of Oakland; a daughter-in-law, Pam Taylor of Brocton; a special niece, Shelly Sawyer of Charleston and many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband; 4 brothers, Dick, Buddy, Gerald and Jack Curtis; and her dogs, Tasha and Poo-Bear. Mrs. Thomason was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Her many passions in life were fishing, hunting, playing Phase 10 and her grandkids and great grandbaby. She was educated in country schools and Oakland High School. A memorial is being established for the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.standardfuneralhome.com.
