Obituary for Rohnald Gordon
Rohnald Gordon, age 59, of Trilla, IL passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Rohn was born June 1, 1962 in Mattoon, IL to Glenn and Beverly (Andrews) Gordon. He married Laura Carter on October 21, 1989 in Mattoon, IL. Rohn was a member of the Mattoon Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing pool and was a pool league operator for many years. He owned Gordon’s Racing Stables and was also a horse trainer. “Buck’s Sunrise” was his favorite horse. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and dearly loved his family and spending time with them. He loved living in the country, and caring for his chickens, ducks, and turkey, who he affectionately named “Butterball.” He is survived by one son: Rohnald Gordon (Sharia) of Charleston, IL., three daughters: Racheal Gordon (Brock) of Trilla, IL, and Rhannee Monroe of Greenup, IL, adopted daughter Mechelle Jenkins of Newton, IL; two brothers: Steve Gordon (Jerri) of Mattoon, IL, and Jimmy Gordon (Yvonne) of Mattoon, IL; a sister: Diana Gordon (Dave) of Charleston, IL and an adopted sister: Jenifer Rardin of Loxa, IL; 12 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend: Connie Stewart, who he loved to play crossword puzzles with every day. He also leaves behind many other friends he loved like family, including Bob and Carol Baker, the Smith family, the Showalter family and the Butler family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rick Gordon; and his best friend, Bob Butler. The family would like to give special thanks to Dave Padgett, P.A., for all of his special care and friendship over the years. A Benefit/Memorial pool tournament will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Mattoon Moose Lodge in Mattoon, IL. Sign up will be from 11:00a.m.-12:30 p.m., and the start time will be 1:30 p.m. The eulogy will begin at 12:30 and continue till 1:30 p.m.
