Rodney Lynn Liffick, age 62, of Oakland, IL, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL. Rodney was born on August 8, 1949 in Tuscola, IL to Dee and Norma (Jones) Liffick. He married Rebecca Jane Fombelle on October 17, 1969 in Ridgeland, SC. He served in the United States Navy, and retired from Illinois Department of Transportation as a highway maintainer. He was a member of Newman American Legion Post # 201, Oakland V.F.W. Post # 3637, Villa Grove – Camargo Masonic Lodge # 885, Douglas County Pheasants Forever, NRA, and National Wild Turkey Federation. Rodney dearly loved his family and friends and visiting with all of them. He also enjoyed cooking, shooting, hunting, fabricating and inventing many things, sharing his knowledge and loved to learn. Rodney is survived by his wife of 43 years, Becky of Oakland, IL; a son, Matt (Nikki) Liffick; a daughter, Tami (Brett) Welsh; a granddaughter, Molly Liffick; a grandson, AJ Laubscher, all of Tuscola, IL; his father Dee Liffick of Oakland, IL; and one sister, Sandee (Bill) Van De Wyngaerde of Urbana, IL. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Norma Liffick. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL, with Masonic services following at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with military rites by the Newman American Legion Post # 201. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Douglas County Pheasants Forever or Douglas County Humane Society.
