Obituary for Robert Lloyd Jenkins Jr.
Robert “Bob” Lloyd Jenkins Jr. LTC Retired, age 69, of Chrisman, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village. Bob was born May 30, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to Robert Lloyd Jenkins Sr. and Jessie Mae (Greer) Jenkins. He married Crystal Jeanne Vernon on July 11, 1963 in Michigan. Bob was a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army, serving for 26 years, touring in Europe, Vietnam, throughout the United States and Korea. He was also a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church, Paris American Legion Post # 211 and Chrisman Lions Club. After moving to Chrisman from Chicago in 1987, Bob and Crystal owned an H&R Block franchise, the TLC Pet Hotel and he was a substitute teacher. He enjoyed playing golf, cards, especially Bridge and was great with carpentry around the house. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Crystal of Chrisman; one son, Brent (Lidia) Jenkins of San Diego, CA; his mother, Jessie Jenkins; two brothers: Barry Jenkins of Charlotte, NC and John (Donna) Jenkins of Peoria, AZ and two grandchildren: Brent Jenkins of Elizabethtown, KY and Samantha Jenkins of Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lloyd Jenkins Sr. and one son, Chad Jenkins. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Edgar County Humane Association or the Chrisman Public Library. Krabel Funeral Home of Chrisman is assisting the family with arrangements.
