Robert Clinton Hawkins, age 88, of Oakland, IL, died Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Arbor Rose of Charleston, IL. Bob was born June 21, 1936, in rural Oakland to Raymond Everett and Leta June (Dowler) Hawkins. He married Martha Lou Coartney on January 6, 1957, at Enon Baptist Church in Ashmore, IL, and they shared 55 years of marriage until she preceded him in death in 2012.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Oakland, where he farmed and raised hogs. He also worked at Triple H and Birkey’s Farm Store. He was an active community member, serving on the East Oakland Township Park Board, the Oakland School Board (where he was a past president), Coles County Farm Bureau member, and co-managed the Oakland Swimming Pool with his wife for four years. In his younger years, Bob enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a CB radio enthusiast, and enjoyed fishing in Minnesota, making cherry wine, growing flowers, and camping at his pond.
Bob is survived by three children: Kathryn Pardi (Joe) of Oakland, IL, Ronald Hawkins (Patricia) of Oakland, IL, and Linda Campbell (Clifford) of Charleston, IL; a sister: Karan Cunningham (Dick) of Paris, IL; eight grandchildren: Bradley Pardi (Sarah), Jeri Biggs (Chris), Clinton Hawkins (Kait Fergus), Christopher Hawkins, Cary Hawkins (Jordan), Joshua Campbell (Melanie), Coartney Koebele (Alexander), and Jesse Campbell (Savannah); seventeen great-grandchildren: Clayton Pardi (Canden Hemrich), Braden Pardi, Lindy Pardi, Kristyn Biggs (Brodie Bennett), Lincoln Hawkins, Theo Hawkins, Elaina Hawkins, Landon Hawkins, Cole Hawkins, Kastin Campbell, Jarrett McCollum, Adlee Hutchinson, Harrison Koebele, Lyla Koebele, Josephine Koebele, Cannen Campbell, Reid Campbell; and special friend: Donna Motley
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Jackie Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at noon at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials in Bob’s honor may be made to the East Oakland Park District - Lake Park or the East Oakland Park District - Swimming Pool, or the Antioch Youth Camp.
