Obituary for Robert "Bob" Daniel Clapp
Robert Daniel “Bob” Clapp, age 81, of Oakland, IL, passed away September 19, 2017 at the home of his daughter, (Teresa) surrounded by his family. He was born February 6, 1936 in Oakland, IL, the son of Jack and Louise (French) Clapp. Bob married Peggy Ann Bayes on October 30, 1954 at the Oakland Christian Church in Oakland, IL. He was self-employed as a carpenter. Bob attended the Victory Church in Camargo, IL. He enjoyed geocaching, writing, and was a member of two writer’s groups. He loved his grandchildren, fishing, and sitting on the river bank. He also enjoyed the Lincoln Garden Monday Morning breakfast group and was a member of the Cancer Support group from Paris, Illinois. In 2012, Bob Graduated from Lincoln Christian University. Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Stan. He is survived by his children; Timothy (Laura) Clapp, Teresa (Kim) Boes, and Mary Jane (Keith) Boes, all of Oakland, IL; his brothers, Dale (Kay) Clapp of Isabel, IL and Jack (Nancy) Clapp, of Oakland, IL; a sister, Phyllis (Burt) Terry, of Clio, AL; a sister-in-law, Geneva Clapp, of Tolono, IL; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at the Victory Church in Camargo, IL on Saturday, September 23 at 12 pm, with a visitation to be held for two hours prior. For those who wish, memorials in Bob’s name may be made to the Victory Church of Camargo, IL.
