Ray was born November 25, 1919 to Guy David and Bertie Alice (Winkleblack) Rowe. He married Marguerite “Mike” Zimmerman on February 8, 1946. Ray owned a bread route after high school until he entered the Army, where he served during WWII. He came home from the service and bought and ran the pool hall. Later he joined his father in the service station business, and then ended his working career as a feed salesman around Arthur, IL.
Ray was a lifelong resident of Oakland, where he knew no strangers. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, the Oakland V.F.W. Post # 3637, and Brocton American Legion Post # 977. He was also the owner and caretaker of “Ray’s Park,” where he enjoyed coffee and conversation with friends new and old. A man of faith and prayer, he treasured life, family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Gil (Linda) Rowe of Martinsville, IL; two grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Embarrass Cemetery with military rites by Oakland V.F.W.
