Obituary for Ralph Frederick Davis
Ralph Frederick “Fred” Davis, age 79 of Chrisman, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 17, 2011 at his home. Fred was born November 26, 1931 in Bloomfield, Edgar County, Illinois to O.F. Davis and Lucy Mae (Esham) Davis. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a Past Commander of the Chrisman American Legion. He also was a member of the Chrisman Christian Church, the Eagles Club of Paris, and a former member of the Royal Riders Club. He was employed for many years as a farmhand and worked in the agricultural business. He loved farming, and also enjoyed working on cars and anything mechanical, gardening, riding motorcycles and serving as an Abraham Lincoln impersonator. He is survived by his wife, Ima Jean Davis; three sons, Patrick Lee (Carol) Davis of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Brandon Edwards of Paris, IL and Michael Eden of Carthage, TN; three daughters, Yvonne Davis of Texas, Tammi (Gary) Underfanger of Springfield, IL, and Vickie (Leland) Larsen of Pleasant Shade, TN; one daughter-in-law, Mary Carol Bonwell of Chrisman, IL; one brother, Junior Davis of Pensacola, FL; two sisters, Sue Jenness of Chrisman, IL and Julia Jenness of Paris, IL; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Edward "Eddie" Davis, a daughter, Melinda Carol Eden, his parents, two brothers and six sisters. Visitation will be held Friday, January 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hoult Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to D.O.it! Edgar Co. Cancer Support Group in care of the funeral home.
