Peggy Joann Shaw, age 87, of Charleston, IL, formerly of Oakland, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charleston.
Peggy was born November 2, 1932 to Everett Nelson Shaw and Lucille Easter (Montgomery) Shaw.
Peggy attended Oakland High School and graduated in 1950. She went on to work at the Oakland Bakery for fifty years, where she enjoyed visiting with customers. She is remembered fondly by many former Oakland students, who would stop in to buy donuts. Peggy attended the Oakland Christian Church and Oakland United Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes at the Oakland Senior Center.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Evelynn Shaw and Ruth Shaw.
She is survived by one brother: James (Roseann) Shaw of Urbana, IL; three nieces, two great-nephews, three great-great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Van Voorhis Cemetery in Hindsboro, IL.
