Peggy Ann (Bayes) Clapp, age 89, of Oakland, IL, went home to be with the Lord on January 14, 2026, at her daughter Teresa’s home.
Peggy was born December 7, 1936, in Ashmore, IL, to Lester Albert and Doris Mae (Waters) Bayes. She married Robert “Bob” Daniel Clapp on October 30, 1954, at the Oakland Christian Church. He preceded her in death in 2017.
She is survived by three children: Timothy Clapp, Teresa (Kim) Boes, and Mary Jane (Keith) Boes; two brothers-in-law: Jack Clapp and Burt Terry; four sisters-in-law: Nancy Clapp, Geneva Clapp, Phyllis Terry, and Kay Clapp; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Bayes and Bob Bayes.
Peggy’s favorite job was serving in the ice cream shop at Rockome Gardens, and she also took care of elderly in home care. She worked for several years at Ashmore Estates. She enjoyed nature, especially deer and feeding the squirrels and birds. She delighted in traveling, with her most memorable trip to NYC at ground zero shortly after the 911 attacks helping with the relief aid. She most recently attended Victory Church in Camargo. Peggy loved her granddogs and cats, and spending time with her family, especially having them over for Sunday dinners.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland Senior Center.
