Obituary for Patricia A. Hubbard
Patricia A. (Blackshire) Hubbard, 80, of Paris, formerly of Ashmore, Illinois went to her Heavenly Home from Paris Health Care, on December 8, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. Patricia was known as a very kind soul, loved by so many. Phil Hubbard, Patty’s husband of 39 years, preceded her in death in 2017. Born in West Virginia, Patricia has six sisters and one brother. Those surviving are Reno (Barb) Blackshire, Mt. Zion, IL, Lena Sobieski, Charleston, Mamie Richey and Ferne Reasor both of FL, and Glenna (Tom) Hiett, Marshall. Patricia has three sons, Brett (Lisa) Crail, Corona, CA, Kurt (Jeanne) Crail Ashmore and Rick Crail. Her grandchildren include Brittany Crail, San Clemente, CA, Alix Swinford IN, Anika (Brad) Hecht, Paris and Blain (Cortney) Fraker, Marshall, Sydni Lanpier, TN and great grandchildren Tinley Sue, IN, Jase and Braylon of Marshall, Hadleigh of Paris, and numerous nieces and nephews. She has two step-daughters, Erin Alyse (Dane) Muldoon, Springfield, Australia, Kristin (Chris) Nelson, Kirkland, WA, and seven step-grandchildren: Jethro, Ivy and Phoenix in Australia and Eli, Isaac, Sylvie and Ellery in Washington. She also has three sisters-in-law, Dayl, Connie and Cyndi. Predeceased family members include her mom, Margie Whitaker, step-dad, Marshall Whitaker, Sisters, Genevieve Hall, and Joanie Coffey, Ashmore, Brothers-in-law, Herb Ellis, Mac Beason, John Sobieski, Donnie Richey, Bill Reasor, Jim Coffey, and Nephew, Rob Coffey. Due to COVID19, Patricia did not get to say her final goodbyes to her precious family and cherished friends. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved Jesus. Patricia attended Charleston High School, received her GED, and later went on to receive an associate degree at South Coast College, Costa Mesa, CA. While in California, she was employed in a dental clinic as a dental hygienist and in the collections department for Unilever and Beckman Instruments. She loved to sing Country and Christian music, especially the Carter Family and Johnny Cash. She had compiled a special notebook of her favorite songs and shared them with anyone who would sing with her. She loved photography, nature, and water. She and Phil enjoyed several cruises throughout the Caribbean. She was very talented. She excelled in computer work. She facilitated the publishing of “The Blackshire Cookbook” a compilation of family favorite recipes, assisted by family and her good friend, Nancy Schick. She loved oil painting, and creative writing. She was an avid speed-reader throughout her lifetime and also a published poet. One of her goals was to write a novel someday. Patricia spoke often of enjoying growing up in Ashmore with her family where she got together with friends and often did baby-sitting and detasseling corn. A ‘Celebration of Life’ service (for just family and close friends due to COVID) is being arranged through Krabel Funeral Home, Oakland, Illinois, to be held at Ashmore Baptist Church on January 9th, 2021 at 11:00 am. Social distancing and face masks are encouraged. Pastor David Colvin will be in charge of the service. Friends and family will be encouraged to tell a story or an incident regarding Patty’s life. Following will be a catered lunch at the Ashmore Community Center, and a private service for family only at the cemetery at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ashmore Baptist Church. They can be given the day of the service or mailed to Krabel Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1007, Oakland, IL 61943.
