Obituary for P.J. Wiseman
Patrick Jeremiah “P.J.” Wiseman, age 78, of Chrisman, IL, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
P.J. was born June 14, 1937 in rural Edgar County, IL to Harry and Rose (Ward) Wiseman. He graduated from Chrisman High School and was a lifelong resident of the Chrisman area. He was a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge. P.J. loved working with his hands, and over the course of his life worked in construction, steel working and welding and spent many hours working in his shop at home. He also previously owned and operated P.J.’s 4 x 4. He valued hard work above all other character traits and found great satisfaction in a hard day’s work, but when it was time for recreation, competitive truck pulls were one of his favorite pastimes. He also loved classic Ford Broncos. P.J. was well-traveled, having visited many places in the world through his work and had the opportunity to experience many things, but one dream he never got to fulfill was to sleep under the stars and pan for gold out west.
He is survived by his wife, Wannee “Lann” Wiseman of Chrisman, IL; three sons: Michael Wiseman of Springfield, MA, Donald (Renate) Wiseman of Paris, IL, and Patrick (Anne) Wiseman of Indianapolis, IN; two step-daughters: Gay and Noi Burari of Thailand; a brother: Norman (Dee) Wiseman of Mishawaka, IN; a sister, Mary Wiseman of South Bend, IN; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Phil Wiseman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Chrisman Christian Church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Cherry Point Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Chrisman Area Community Club.
